Similar to city flags, state flags in the United States are often not particularly well designed. I am also in the process of redesigning them.

The following state flags will not be redesigned as they are (in my opinion) well designed or else iconic (or redesigned recently) enough not to touch: Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Mexico, Ohio, Rhodes Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah.

The following states have flags with credible design connections to the Confederate States of America and as a result will eventually receive redesigns, regardless of how well designed or iconic they are: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
